Naming themes
30 Sep 2009
Why do people persist with naming themes?  I can understand that it may give a sense of 'team' to your racing team, but it just looks to the general punting public that the owner has no imagination.  Some examples:
Fairy King Prawn and Jeune King Prawn in Hong Kong
Jeram Jumbo, Jeram New Jumbo, Jeram Captain, Jeram Challenge, etc in Malaysia
Coup Andrew, Coup Volksraad, Coup South, Princess Coup in NZ
Princess Danehill, Shinko Princess, Princess Coup (yes, owned in conjunction with the Coup guy) in NZ

Personally I prefer naming themes that run in families; as is often seen at Woodlands/Darley.  A new example is Denman; whose dam is Peach.  Denman is a variety of peach.
